Breaking Smiles and Thrills

Mettel's blogathon has us looking at the movies that make us smile and the movies that give us thrills. I won't waste much time on an introduction, so here's what Mettel has to say about this week's choices and my choices are as follows:

Midnight in Paris - Aw hey, it's the Fitzgeralds.

Midnight in Paris is a movie that makes me smile from start to finish, but nothing has me smiling like an idiot as when Gil meets the Fitzgeralds. Or anyone else from that era, for that matter. It is just so magical. Just imagine if this happened in real life, guys!

The Muppets - Life's a Happy Song

If you're having a bad day, go and have a shower and turn on 'Life's a Happy Song'. Trust me, it makes your day infinitely better. Or, just watch The Muppets. It makes your life infinitely better.

It Happened One Night - "Quit bawlin'!"

It Happened One Night reminds one of the funniest movies I have ever seen because of this single scene. I don't know why I love it as much as I do, but it is just one of the funniest things I have ever seen. Maybe because I always mock people in a voice similar to what Clark Gable does.

Gravity - the whole bloody movie.

Gravity was so good it made me never want to set foot in a theatre again because movies should not be allowed to make me a mess like that one did. I was shaking, crying uncontrollably (seriously, can someone tell me how to cry quietly?!), gripping on to my armrest, choking on my pepsi, hiding behind my pepsi...and then I somehow had to bring myself back down to Earth for when I had to leave the theatre. For all of the unprettiness, I sure is glad that there's a movie like this around.

The Social Network - "you better lawyer up asshole"

This scene has my adrenaline pumping because of two things: a) this is a perfect movie and b) because I've always wanted to say this to someone. It makes me wanna wear "You go Eduardo" t-shirts and create protest rallies for him and the like. It is a beautiful moment.

The Great Gatsby - "I'm Gatsby"

Sure, this is supposed to be about films that thrill you, and The Great Gatsby, in all of its romantic glory, doesn't necessarily do that. And yeah, this scene happens before most of the thrilling aspects. However, it gets the adrenaline pumping because this scene is truly ridiculous. But every time I see it, I feel like crying in shame and joy, laughing at the stupidity and laughing with the film...I just don't know how to express how I feel about this scene, but it really does bring out every single emotion I have. Which is the same as adrenaline pumped thrill rides, isn't it?

How did you feel about these moments? What makes you smile/sit on the edge of your seat?

  1. Totally agree with you on the Gatsby part. That scene is so awesome and "movie-ish" (you know what I mean?) like you would not believe.

  2. Gatsby gave me goosebumps. It's a very honest scene I think because this is the effect Leonardo DiCaprio has on people, right? No comment about Gravity, I absolutely agree. And Midnight in Paris is so sweet, you can't help but love it.

    1. Leonardo DiCaprio does have that effect on people. Or the full on faint-in-his-presence effect on people.

  3. Haha, "Quit bawlin'!" That scene is priceless. Love the Gravity and Midnight in Paris mentions too.

  4. The formation process is not as complex as that of a public company, but it still requires time and experience to form such companies. Registration as a sales tax payer (VAT) is not mandatory after the establishment and formation of a company, but becomes necessary if the annual turnover exceeds the legally prescribed limit. A limited liability company needs the minimum equity capital, which is almost normal in Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia; However, there are several ways to invest the capital. https://www.baltic-legal.com/immigration-eng.htm
