Introducing...The Classic Movie Marathon

You remember how this time last week I asked you whether I should what marathon I should do? Well, the Classics seemed to with the majority of the vote, so I shall hereby introduce you to...

Classic Movie Marathon

As promised, I'll be watching twelve movies made before 1955, some which I have seen, some which I have not. Here's the proposed timetable:

I've booked a couple of days off from this duty because one day I have like five other movies to watch and another day I have work until late, so I won't be able to squeeze a movie in. And I should probably say that the dates are set to NZ time, so depending where you are in the world, the dates might differ by a day or so. However, I don't want to do this job alone. I'd love it if you guys could watch these and blog about them too, and just send me a link at filmjunkie25@hotmail.com

Feel free to take the little banner thingy and link it back here, I'd love as much word spread as possible! Thank you!

  2. I wish you all the best with this Marathon.

I tried a World Cinema Weekender, it only had 5 films!! But I failed miserably. I only got through 2!! LOL Life got in the way. The hazards of having kids I suppose!!

Anyway good luck and I look forward to the result of this ├╝ber task!

  8. I have seen Double Indemnity and The Lost Weekend, and both are wonderful. This is such a great idea for a Marathon. I wish you all the best and look forward to hearing your thoughts. I won't have the time to keep up, but I might try and squeeze in one or two. I have been trying to see His Girl Friday, so that will be one at least. Perhaps Ninotchka too! :-)

  9. Monty - I really enjoyed His Girl Friday when I watched it ages ago, I'm looking forward to seeing it again! Thanks!

Custard - Thank you! That's why I chose the holidays...the only distraction is work. I'm looking forward to it too!

Anna - Wow. I picked ones that aren't amazingly popular because I wanted to be different, haha.

Cherokee - How did you see Double Indemnity before me? I'm watching it tomorrow, can't wait :)

Jack - You haven't seen any of them? I'm amazed!

    Lime(tte) - Thank you!

Andy - Yay, I have a fellow participant! Thank you for the well wishing! His Girl Friday and Ninotchka were good, from what I remember, too.

  11. We've had it in the house for forever (my dad is a big noir fan) and I watched Double Indemnity and Gun Crazy in a row not so long ago, actually. Best double bill ever? I think so.

Also - Hamlet is supposed to be AMAZING. We have it on video (yes, we still use our video player), so like you, I am definitely gonna get round to watching it!

  12. I love film noir. I just got Double Indemnity off Fatso on my free trial, I've been looking for it forever!
I've had Hamlet since early 2009, and I think I started watching it but I never finished it. And that's cool still using a video player, we have a couple and we use them all the time!
