So, while I deal with some Cage Rage (for the second night in a row) and see Kristen Stewart as a hooker, read these gems from the blogging world this week:
Candice at Reel Talk quite liked Javier Bardem's Oscar nominated Biutiful. I've heard that it's quite a depressing flick - but I'm excited to see it all the same.
Well the LAMMYs for 2011 have wrapped up and the blog who took the top prize definitely deserved it! Check out all of the action in case you missed it.
Lesya did a nice review on Super 8, which I'll definitely be catching on DVD.
The Sydney Film Festival has all wrapped up and Andy had it covered. Be sure to read up on all of the films he got to check out - most of which will be making it to the NZFF next month!
Film Intel really liked Monsters. While I'm not prepared to give it such a rating, I do agree with most of his review.
Bonjour Tristesse reviewed The Tree of Life and even gave it a rating (rare among most of the reviews I have seen). Seriously, I need to see this movie.
Hatter offered up a nice review on Midnight in Paris, a film which I'm also aching to see.
I just watched Fish Tank yesterday, and Cherokee just posted about it too, as part of her female director season.
Hear the word 'Twilight' and you want to slap yourself silly? Univarn thought of four other words which have been ruined by the entertainment industry.
There was a whole lot of love for Quentin Tarantino at Being Norma Jeane a week ago, and here is her top 5 Tarantino flicks.
You know those movies that you really don't want to watch with your family because it's so damn uncomfortable? Southern Vision has a list of 10 movies which shouldn't be a part of family movie night.
In a double-review at Anomalous Material, we see a rotten opinion on Made in Dagenham take on a more loving opinion. I was neither here nor there with the flick, but I can't say it degrades feminism.
Bad haircuts in movies? Kai has his list on Man, I Love Films.

ReplyDeleteI don't know if I could ever sit through Season of the Witch. I don't like to use the words "Nicolas Cage" and "crap" in the same sentence, but sometimes its unavoidable.
I don't think The Tree of Life hits Kiwi theatres until August, but I've already bought a copy from overseas 'cos I'm impatient like that.

Custard - This is a weird story. But on the 25th of November, 2006, I was in a truck accident and my favourite horse died. So when I was thinking of a number to put on the end of my very first email account I decided that it shall be 25, to honour my favourite horse in some way. I don't even know how this got to be my url. I really need to change it.

Fish Tank was brilliant. I really do hope that more people watch it.
Andy did a great job! I wish I could cover the NZFF. But since I suck at driving and should really be off my learners license except I am too scared to even drive that manual car after my bad experiences with trying to do hill-starts, and the closest cinema is 45 minutes away, I can't really. It would be too expensive. But since it's around my birthday, I might ask if my parents can drive me over to see a few of them, like The Tree of Life, Melancholia and Martha Marcy May Marlene (mainly those three, but there's plenty that I'm interested in). After all, I am turning 16, and apparently that's a milestone? I'm so sad...other people my age would have a huge party but I just want to go and watch some artsy movies.
