Link Me In

Gah. What an awful day today has been. Let's hope Let Me In can make it better. It better be as good as my beloved Let the Right One In.

While I watch a vampire love story that kicks the shit out of Twilight, read these posts that kick the shit out of mine:

Whilst Blogger was down, I took to my Tumblr. Not interesting at all, but check it out if you want.

So, I was all happy because I thought Hanna was coming out in a months time. But no. It's been pushed back to September 1, and I think it's going into limited release. Which means I'll missed it. I HATE YOU WHOEVER MADE THAT DECISION. Anyway, Lesya at Eternity of Dream did a nice review on it.

There's a Guys of the 90's Tournament going on at Insight Into Entertainment. Check it out!

If you've seen Moon, discuss it over at Paracinematic Cinephile. I need to rewatch that movie.

Blog Cabins and The List are no more. Check out Fletch and Kai's new awesome venture, Man I Love Films!

Bridemaids hit the movies in America and I have to say, I'm damn excited to see it. Here are reviews from [film] girl, interrupted, The Dark of the Matinee and A Place for Reviews.

Andy at Andy Buckle's Film Emporium reviews Insidious. I was freaked out enough by the cardboard cut-out at the local cinemas.

And finally, one of my most loyal readers, Cherokee, has finally gotten her own blog. Her first post is indeed interesting!

Happy reading!

  1. Thanks for the link! It's unfortunate they delay Hanna so much in NZ.

I will check out Cherokee's blog, as I remember her long comments under your

  2. My comment was cut! Unfair! I has written the next: "...under your posts. Interesting :)"

  3. Thanks for the shout-out!

I'm sceptical about Let Me In... so far I've just dismissed it as yet another unnecessary remake for those too lazy to read. Let me know if I'm wrong ;)

Also, I love the idea of the Man, I Love Films site. It looks like it's going to be a great success.

  4. Oh God! I've left a legacy of long comments on your blog. Ah crap. I did wonder where I randomly got these followers from without posting anything, so thank you - again - for that Stevee!

I'll be interested to hear your write up on Let Me In though. At the advice of my better judgement, (despite liking Kodi Smith-McPhee and Chloe Moretz) I have been avoiding that film like a disease...and that means going against the 'must not judge a film before I have seen it' law, which I have personally broken for Let me in. It must have something to do with loving the original so damn much. But here's hoping it shall be a good one!

Bridemaid's will be an interesting one to see the feedback for as well, especially on the women front of it. It seems cliche to have a female fronted film to do with something so badly stereotypical as weddings, but then I have heard so many good things about it, (feminist wise). Will be checking it out when it comes out, that's for sure.

And I like your tumblr man! I'd have to count that as one of the few tumblrs I actually like.

  6. I'm one of the few that actually preferred Let Me In to Let The Right One In. One of the best remakes I've seen in a while.
I just don't understand everyone's aversion to it, as it improves on the original in several ways.

I can't wait to watch Hanna either, it looks great!

  9. Lesya - Ah...Cherokee's long comments were the only things keeping this blog going for a while!

Liam - Let Me In was actually really good. Let the Right One In, being one of my favourite movies ever, is far better, but Let Me In was stunningly impressive for an American remake. I certainly wouldn't dismiss it.
Fletch and Kai will do an awesome job on their new site!

Cherokee - You have left a legacy of long comments! Now you have a lot to live up to...can you rise to the challenge?
This time last year, I was hating on Let Me In. I wrote a couple of hate posts towards it even though I hadn't seen it. How dare they just remake one of my favourite films ever? But now that I've watched it, I take that all back. Sure, the film is way better in a different language, but they didn't fuck it up. It's still a slow, beautiful story. Which I was grateful for.
Ha, my Tumblr is pretty shit. I just reblog stuff when I can be bothered...it's terribly unexciting.

Andy - Judging by your review, it sounds genuinely scary!

Jack - Yeah...can't agree with you there. I love Let the Right One In to death, and Let Me In would have had to be extra special to even be remotely better than the original. But I do think it is one of the best remakes in years.
Hanna looks absolutely fantastic! I've had enough of waiting to see it.

Sebastian - Didn't have any trouble with Let Me In. I loved it.

Rachel - No, you are too sweet. You always write cool stuff!
