New 100 Favourite Movies Update!

I've updated my top 100 for the first time since October. No special reason - I just felt the need for an upgrade. Check it out here. It has changed quite a bit, although the top three remain in the same spots (mind you, it'd take a lot to shift them).

I'd love to hear your feedback! How's my list looking?

  1. God, American Beauty is thirteen years old....certainly doesn't feel that way!
The films I haven't seen here are going on my watchlist - Perfect Blue looks amazing, for example. If you want another mindf**k anime, then Akira is the way to go!
    Love Rear Window
Never regret giving a Disney princess a spot on the list - especially not when it's Amy Adams!
Personally didn't find Nosferatu that scary, but I guess it's cause I'm watching it in a different context. That scene where the vampire is walking slowly down the corridor to the lawyers room is incredibly creepy though.
    Hells yeah A Separation!
Hells yeah There Will Be Blood
    Such a great list!!!!

    1. I need to see Akira still! I shall get onto that one.

      Thanks!

  2. Very nice list! I wish I had the motivation to sit down and do a Top 100, but I don't know how I could possibly rank them - especially the middling numbers between, say, 60 - 80. Maybe one day...

    1. Those numbers are the hardest to rank. To be honest, most of those movies just fall into one heap, as opposed to the top 10 which is perfectly ranked.

  3. Glad to see new inclusions, though I really liked your list before!

P.S Hip-hop is great! (The good stuff, admittedly, there is a lot of shit out there.)

Funnily enough, I was going to have a little revamp on my list too - have so many additions I want to add in after about half a year or so such as Days of Heaven, Hiroshima Mon Amour, House, Mala Noche (a lot that I've missed out previously on my list before as well).

We've also got Trainspotting and The Red Shoes around similar places, too. And hey, all drugs aren't bad! (Just heroin, crack, ketamin - that depends - and possibly coke - also depending on if you get addicted or not...)

Loving the fact that Lost in Translation has cracked the top 10, too!

And Ruth is definitely championing Akira for me!

    1. I don't mind hip-hop, but most of the time it annoys the shit out of me!

      Pain-killing drugs are great!

And I like that Lost in Translation is so high up now. I love that film so much!

    2. Definitely think I need to watch Lost in Translation again now, haven't seen it in such a long time, and I've seen it a lot of times.

Dude, I definitely need to give you some hip-hop education, it's like my favourite genre of music, when done right!

      And Calpol all the way!

  4. LIT @ #4!!!! Nice!!!! I like it. I couldn't come up with a 100 list because it's always ever-changing. My Favorite Films essays often provide the reasons why I think these films are the best.

  5. Funny that you're #100 is Perfect Blue. I saw it the other day and after it ended I wondered if you had seen it before. Seemed like your kind of film.

Love seeing Carrie on the list. My favorite horror films. Have you watched much De Palma? I think you would dig some of his films, particularly Phantom of the Paradise and Blow Out.

Also, did you misspell Nolan's name on your #1 on purpose?

    1. It is my kind of film, haha.

I love De Palma, but I haven't seen those two. I will seek them out!

I misspelled Nolan's name on purpose every time I mentioned him ;)

  6. Nice to see The Drvil Wears Prada on the list, I'm also not ashamed to admit I love it ^^ I love The Virgin Suicides, The Departed, Lost in Translation too - they would probably be in my top 100 as well. However I do not know if I can understand Mean Girls on number 15. Above Black Swan and Streetcar?

And I firmly believe Christopher Nolan should be exiled without money for few years after TDK and Inception because he is right there on the path to being new Michael Bay.

    1. Read the top of the page...it is *my* top 100, not yours. I wrote a whole entire post about how people are so unfair towards these lists. And Mean Girls was in my top 10 last time.

Um, no. Christopher Nolan can actually make good movies.

  7. Love the variety of this list. I am tempted to make my own, but it's always so intimidating to whittle down my film history to just 100. Definitely saw a bunch of my favorites in your list, though, which is very cool to see. Nice job!
