Final Oscar Predictions are Up!

The Oscar nominations are up this week. How is this happening? I still can't get over the fact that we're in 2012 and I have to go back to school soon (major sadface). Anyway, with the nominations just around the corner, I have completed my predictions of them. I'm not confident with the technical awards - they're always so hard to predict properly.

As my Oscar viewing goes, I've seen surprisingly a few of the movies in contention, with War Horse this week and hopefully Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy soon (providing the cinemas put it on at better times). There's still a few to see in February, but some of them probably won't even make it to our cinemas (like The Artist, which seems to be a bit absent from the 'Coming Soon' listings in NZ cinemas). However, hopefully I get the large majority of them down by Oscar time!

Check out my predictions here. Let's see how many of them I get right!

  1. I'm hoping for a win for The Descendants for best film and best director. Alexander Payne deserves the recognition.

    1. Well it got the nominations, but if it wins I'll be throwing things.

  2. I'm pretty sure "The Artist" will win - first of all it completely deserves, second of all "The Descendants" is one of the dumbest films this year. So when it does I'm sure it will hit theatres where you live! :)

  3. Ah! A field of six. You are making things interesting :) I would definitely think those are the six that would make if that was the case with The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo at 7 and The Tree of Life as 8.

At Best Actor, those 5 sound like locks while at Best Actress, it will definitely be interesting whether Rooney Mara can cut it. I doubt it.

    Nice prediction Stevee!

    1. If only The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo made it :'( I should have called Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close like everyone else was. That is, everyone that we don't know of.
