The Warrior's Link

Ah well, it's finally the holidays. Two weeks of...homework. WOOHOO! I'm pretty excited for Friday though, as I'm having a special Inception party by myself to mark our year anniversary. Other than that, I don't have a lot to be excited over this week. There were hardly any movies coming in this week, so I have My Wedding and Other Secrets (an awesome NZ comedy), The Mechanic and The Warrior's Way on my agenda. I must admit, I usually never watch movies like the latter two, but I'm giving them a go anyway, just so I can say I've seen them. You know, it's hard being the only one in the world who doesn't care much for the latest Harry Potter movie. Instead of seeing Ralph Fiennes without a nose, I'm sifting through his other movies. I guess I should tell you that I'm going through a bit of a Liam Neeson and Ralph Fiennes/Schindler's List phase at the moment - don't judge me.

So, while I watch a whole lot of stuff that I never usually watch, read these:

Bonjour Tristesse does a fantastic review on Beginners, a movie which I might see at the NZFF (that's if I manage to get tickets for my birthday - which I won't).

A film which I love with a passion, All About Eve, was just reviewed over at Andy Buckle's Film Emporium. I wanna see this movie now.

Guess who's back? Jack L. Film Reviews! Can't wait to see more posts from him, it's been so long!

Another film which I wanna see at the NZFF is Meek's Cutoff, which Hatter reviews even though he was slightly let down by the cinema experience.

Fellow Angry Birds loving blogger Tyler at Southern Vision made a list of his ten best countries for film production.

Speaking of lists, Custard at Front Room Cinema tells us all his 10 favourite alternative Shakespeare films. Interesting stuff.

Lesya at Eternity of Dream reviews Bad Teacher, a film which I actually haven't heard that much about.

I've never actually thought about this myself, but Kevyn unleashes his favourite Quentin Tarantino characters at Anomalous Material. Archie Hicox is in there! Which is super awesome!

Candice at Reel Talk has already seen Friends with Benefits, and she didn't like it. I still really wanna see it, mainly coz it has a good cast.

Have a good week everyone!

  1. Well thank you! All About Eve was something else. What a screenplay!

  2. Thanks for the linkage, Stevee. I've decided to turn my iPhone upside down while playing angry birds so that the pigs are frowning, not smiling. D'you think it'll work?

  3. Andy - It has a brilliant screenplay!

Tyler - It might work...but when I turn my iPod upside down the screen moves with it. Bloody smirking pigs, they're inescapable!

You mustn't be afraid to dream a little bigger, darling.
