What's Happening Where I Am: Cinema and DVD releases here, 12/05/11

Cinema Releases

Water for Elephants: Expectations: "ZOMG I WANNA SEE THIS MOVIE COZ IT HAS EDWARD CULLEN IN IT! HE'S SOOOOOOOOOO SEXY XOXO !!!!!"
Reality: I want need to see this movie because it has Christoph Waltz in it.
I even named the image I used 'Christoph Waltz' instead of 'Water for Elephants' without realising it. That's a bingo!

Burke and Hare: I admit that I had never heard of this movie until I saw the trailer before Source Code last night. But Isla Fisher has a new movie! That's worth my time. Even if the movie didn't actually look that great from it's trailer.

Hoodwinked Too! Hood vs. Evil: Oooh, I'm just going to let the classiness of that title waft over me.
Why? Why is this even a movie? The first one was terrible. And this looks really poor in quality. Oh well, the kids might like it.

Catfish: I remember reading about this movie around this time last year. And now we finally get it in two cinemas across the country. It's the other Facebook movie, right? Sounds exciting.

DVD releases

Tangled: God, I love this movie. I specifically picked this picture because this scene was one of the most beautiful things I'd ever seen. But can people please tell me why it's not as popular as all of the other animated flicks? Because, personally, I thought this was far better than How to Train Your Dragon.

The Tourist: Great script-writing 101 with The Tourist:
Frank: "My name's Frank."
Elise: "That's a terrible name."
Frank: "It's the only one I've got."
Elise: "Perhaps we can find you a new one?"
First of all, you don't just tell people they have a terrible name and then force a new one upon them. Angelina Jolie, you ice queen.
And second of all, this looks like a terrible movie. Perhaps I can find a new one.

The Dilemma: This movie was so inconsistent it made my math grades look normal.

Monsters: I have an overly sentimental review planned for this movie, which should be up sometime this weekend. I am so jealous of Gareth Edwards, you have no idea.

Any thoughts on these movies? What will you be watching in the coming week?

  1. Oh Tourist was painful. I never thought in a million gazillion years I would hate a film with both Depp and Jolie in it, but yuk!!
Also I'm looking forward to Water for Elephants. I would actually like to give Robert Pattinson a chance because Remember Me was rather good until the end, and he could sort of act. Ofcourse I would mostly be watching it for Waltz and the circus aspect of it... the possibilities of amazing visuals are endless.

  2. THE TOURIST is awful, but don't blame Angie.

(And Frank IS a terrible name.)
